1. Parent Child + Programme
Two Year Programme
- It is designed to strengthen the natural bond between parent and child and to encourage a love of learning.
- It employs a non-directive approach and encourages the parent as the child’s first and best teacher.
- This programme prepares children for later success in school.
Local Home Visitors
- ParentChild+ employs specially trained local people as Home Visitors, to model verbal interaction for the parent and child.
- The Home Visitor visit the family twice a week, in their own home, for two short (1/2 hour) play sessions per week.
One Child per Family
- The family then continue the activities in their own time.
- Thereby enabling the ParentChild+ child and his/her siblings to develop their language, literacy and numeracy skills.
On and Between Visits
- Parent/guardians are encouraged to spend time talking, reading and playing with their children
Educational Books and Toys
- The developmental books and toys are gifts to the families to enable them to continue the activities in their own time and at their own pace.
2. Home from home Programme
To meet the needs of families who either are homeless, living in direct provision or temporary accommodation, the home visiting team have developed a new home visiting programme which is called the ‘Home from Home’.
This programme provides an integrated plan of intervention and support for families with children aged 16 months onwards.
The Home from Home Programme offers families one visit per week (one hour) over a twelve-week period. These short but intensive sessions allow families to receive the programme with little interference to their daily lives.
3. Parent and toddler group
Every Friday from 9.30am to 11am, Hayley (Home Visitor) facilitates our Parent and Toddler Group in the Kitchen in Youth New Ross. If you would like to attend, please do come along. Registration or sign up is not required prior to attending.
